6 day old Calvin {Newborn Session} Durham, NC Newborn Photographer

I am so happy that I have opened up to having newborns come to me instead of me going to them. Although my space is small and furniture gets moved everywhere, it is all set up and ready when the clients arrive, I have everything I need (space heater, sound machine, backdrops, etc.!) and the parents can just relax while I snap away. (Although sometimes I do get a little help from mom and dad!)

This little guy came to me at 6 days old. He weighed 8lbs 13oz at birth. He was perfect for his session. Mom only had to nurse him a few times, but other than that he slept the entire session!

Snow Day {January 29, 2014} Durham, NC Photographer

We here in central North Carolina aren't fortunate to see much accumulation of any kind when "winter storms" pass through. We were certainly lucky enough this time to get some very pretty snow!!! I hope you don't mind my photo dump here of my precious little red head in the snow. She is LOVING it!

Pregnancy Reveal {Amanda + Joe} Durham, NC Photographer

Today we did a quick 5 minute session in the field for a pregnancy reveal! That silly sun was perfect but it was time for football to come on. :) I'd say we got some super cute shots and what a fun way to let friends and family know you are expecting! We left out the big fur siblings this time, but maybe in the maternity shots... maybe?! Congratulations to Amanda and Joe! We sure can't wait to meet that little one!!!

Enjoy!

Duke Engagement Session {Christine + Lazaro} Durham, NC Photographer

What a fun session this was! C & L brought along a few cute props and even three outfit changes! (Check out more about my portrait package here!) We met at the Bryan Center and walked all around campus for the session. What I think is so cool about this session is that they both went to Duke and that is how they met. They are even getting married in Duke Chapel! Being from the other blue myself (the better blue!), I didn't know much about campus so it was fun for them to pick the places that were special to them.

I was honored when C & L asked me to shoot their wedding in June at the chapel. However, I did turn them down as I am not taking on any weddings this year.  I have been dabbling in photography for the last couple of years and I have really come to love the sessions with children and babies. Not that I don't love them all, because I most certainly do! I just think I am going to narrow my MAIN focus down a bit to see how much I can improve in those areas. It likely stems from my lifetime love and passion for children and my time in the elementary education field.

Please don't think I am not doing family sessions and engagement sessions. I am certainly still going to do them all! (Just not weddings.) ;)

Any-who! Here are some of the shots from Sunday!

Newborn Session {Baby Erin- 9 days old} Durham, NC Photographer

I feel so blessed to only be in the first full week of 2014 and already sharing newborn number 2 on the blog! I think I said this in the last blog, but my goal this year is to focus a lot more on newborns. It's such a challenge and super fun all at the same time! Plus, who doesn't want to snuggle newborns for 2 hours?! Meet sweet 9 day old baby E! I took her photos at their house in Raleigh and it was so nice to meet her (and her mommy!) I'm not finished with her disk yet, but I am loving working on these edits! We attempted the wooden bowl but she was not a fan. ;)

Enjoy!

Newborn Session {Baby J- 8 days old} Durham, NC Photographer

This sweet family contacted me two days ago. They were in the state adopting their sweet new baby boy. We met today at my house to do the session as they are traveling and did not have anywhere to do them. I completely enjoyed the session at my house and am totally going to offer that to any future newborns that are interested. It's tiny and cramped but it worked out great and I love the fact that I control the lighting and know what I have to work with before I get somewhere! I hope you enjoy just a couple of peak for now.

My goal for 2014 is more newborns! I think I am starting the year off with a bang! I LOVE LOVE LOVE it when the babies sleep so well for me and I can put them in bowls. ;) *This is why it is SO important to do the session as early as possible and certainly no later than 10 days old!

Sibling Session { Forrest and Ariel } Durham, NC Photographer -Woodlake

Happy New Year! I started off 2014 today with a sibling session and the temperature was a whopping 34 degrees! Where do we live again?!??! This family drove from Pitsboro to take advantage of my Valentine's Day Mini Special Rate! I don't typically offer mini sessions unless I schedule several for one date and location. From now through February 9th I am offering these minis on weekday afternoons at 4pm at a location near Southpoint mall off of Fayetville Road. Feel free to email me if you are interested! Here is a peak at today's siblings! You couldn't even tell we were freezing! ;)
